Non-destructive testing (NDT) examines a part for cracks and other flaws without damaging it. 196 accredited labs in 10 countries have non-destructive testing in their scope. Most of them are in Germany, United Kingdom and Sweden. The most common standards in these scopes are ISO 3452-1, EN ISO 17638 and EN ISO 17637.
Typical tests: ultrasonic, radiographic, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, eddy current, visual, acoustic emission and leak testing. Examination that cuts or etches the part, such as metallography, belongs to materials testing.
